#12BooksInAMonth – Jan

I am excited to read 12 books in 2018, one book a month. This is something I have tried to do in the past few years and didn’t do too well. But this year is different, in 2018 I will be posting my favorite quotes and phrases of the books I read to keep me accountable.

Even if you are not a believer it is an interesting way to look at how to give back and the importance of being in community with other people! The book pushes people to think past the norms of society and choose how we want to live our life, encouraging the readers to life less “comfortably” so that others can finally live comfortably. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, “Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.”

Then, his stepmother died in a car accident when he was 9 years old. His father remarried again when he was 10. His father then died of cancer when Chan was 12 years old. He then moved with his brothers and sisters in with his second stepmother. Chan has experienced so much tragedy in his life at such a young age yet found a reason to push through and live his life. As a teacher he travels teaching the word of the bible and encouraging people to love God, love themselves, and love others.

Check out 8 of my favorite words from the book below, let me know what you think!
