Kristi Sprowl- 3rd Place Winter 16 Poetry Contest Winner

‘A light
A beacon of hope
That generations
Will soon desire to succeed…
And carry the torch,
But some days
I’m just a man on a porch
Or a guy walking by
In the wrong place
At the wrong time…
A thunderstorm
In June
A pillar of chaos
That can erupt
At any sign of
Hate or some bullshit…
A garden
Full of potential,
diversity,
Limit-free,
A giving tree,
But only so much
You’ll get from me,
Only so much I’ll give for free…
A harvester
Of love and time
Yet still cautious
Of who with I split
My wines…’
