‘an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.’
Fear is the very thing that will keep the stuck person stuck and the comfortable person comfortable because it is the very emotion that will cause lack of progression and growth. As I sit here, overwhelmed with creative desire, torn from being in a continuous battle with my conscience, but ready to take on any challenge necessary to create a happier and more fulfilled me, I begin to ponder the question, ‘What are you afraid of?’ Have you ever gotten so fed up with being controlled by your fears that you just can’t help but look that fear in the face and sincerely ask with pure disgust but genuine interest, ‘Why are you here?’I am learning to ask the important questions and to dig a bit deeper, so it is not until now that I can truly begin to dissect and understand the Marianne Williamson quote, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”As I unravel her words I begin to conclude that maybe I do believe I am good enough. Maybe the problem is not that I lack confidence. Maybe I am simply afraid to succeed. Is it possible that I procrastinate because I am afraid that I won’t know how to handle the success that I so desperately cling to in my imagination? The comfort of my mindless daily routine is all too familiar. It’s all too cushiony and warm and I’ve never experienced the true victory of my dreams unfolding. Perhaps that is what is truly scary. I am not okay with that.
I challenge you to ask yourself that crucial question, ‘What am I really afraid of?’ I challenge you to dig a little bit deeper today. To face whatever it is straight on and decide that whatever the reason is just not good enough. It is not worth the demise of your most fiery desires. I challenge you to understand that pain is inevitable, that you cannot escape it. Whether it be in your comfort zone years from now when you realize that you let fear stop you from living, or on your journey, fighting through your fears to a happier life, filled with the things you are most passionate about and that you know you deserve. I challenge you to live now & fear LESS.
